Brittany Hansen is a continuous learner and dedicated instructor with over 15 years of
educational experience working with college and high-school students. She holds a Bachelor of
Arts (B.A.) of Mathematics from Carson Newman University and a Doctorate of Mathematics
(Ph.D) from North Carolina State University. Before working at Capital Educational Solutions,
she was an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Campbell University teaching Trigonometry,
Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and upper-level mathematics courses. She specializes in classroom
instruction and management, mathematics curriculum development, online course
development, academic coaching, and tutoring.

As an educator, she is passionate about helping students overcome the fear and negativity
often associated with mathematics. She strives to create a learning environment that is
compassionate, curious, constructive, and collaborative. She focuses on building strong
conceptual foundations and demonstrating how individual concepts relate to the larger subject
matter to create deeper understanding. Equally as important, she encourages students to be
curious, ask questions, and stay positive. Additionally, she enjoys connecting with and
mentoring her students on effective study practices, test-taking strategies, time management
practices, academic stress management, course selection, and other education-related topics.

As a life-long pursuer of knowledge, she has participated in a number of professional
development and training opportunities to enrich her pedagogy, including the Mathematical
Association of America’s Project NExT (New Experience in Teaching) Fellowship program,
NCSU’s PTP (Preparing the Professoriate) and CoAT (Certificate of Accomplishment in Teaching)
programs, and various trainings in online course design and technologies, honors pedagogy,
mentoring, and MHFA (Adult Mental Health First Aid).

In her free time, she loves spending quality time with her husband, two young children (twin
boy and girl), and two cats. Whether it’s trying new restaurants, boba tea places, coffee shops,
recipes, TV shows, vacation spots, or local activities, she appreciates experiencing the world
with the ones she loves. And you may even catch her hunting for treasures at the thrift store!
